½ tablespoon dried shrimp, soaked in hot water and strained, then fried
4 red curly chilies
2 large red chilies
2 red bird’s eye chilies
Usually, when there is a wedding in a Betawi family, there will be a division of tasks. If I am assigned to make fruit salad, I use this recipe.
Fry potatoes on high heat. Remove before the color turns brownish.
Fry peanuts, cashews, and dried shrimp separately until color turns. Remove from heat. Grind to a paste, add in red chilies, salt, and coconut sugar. Add a dash of vinegar, and grind to a smooth paste.
Line a bowl with lettuce. Add noodle, potato, egg, cucumber, and crackers. Pour peanut sauce over the top. Serve.
