  • 1 kg glutinuous rice, soaked in water for 8 hours
  • ½ kg coconut sugar
  • 3-4 glasses (600-800 ml) coconut milk
  • 6 kaffir lime leaves
  • 10 pandanus leaves

Jenis wajik ketan selain berwarna coklat ada pula yang memiliki warna lain seperti warna hijau dan merah muda, wajik berwarna hijau dan merah muda tidak menggunakan gula merah melainkan gula pasir.

Steps

  1. Drain glutinous rice, place into steamer that has been heated on high heat. Steam until soft and tender.
  2. Bring coconut milk to a boil over low heat, while stirring occasionally so coconut milk will not separate. Remove from heat.
  3. Let the thicker coconut milk separate. Take the thick coconut milk, cook with coconut sugar, kaffir lime leaves and pandanus leaves until thick.
  4. Add in glutinuous rice, mix well to avoid sticking and burning. Cook until coconut milk is well absorbed by rice. Remove from heat.
  5. Place glutinuous rice on banana leaf. Flatten rice, and leave to cool.
